The Brief

Peter and Laura wanted to replace a dilapidated outbuilding with a new gym and store that complemented their beautiful home and garden.

It was important that the new building didn’t dominate the garden or interrupt the view from the kitchen. Following a site visit, we developed a bespoke design that carefully balanced the size of the building with its position within the garden.

By recessing the store behind the main studio, we were able to retain views down the garden while providing the practical space they needed.

The Outcome

The completed gym and store sit comfortably within the garden, complementing both the house and its surroundings without compromising the view from the kitchen.

Recessing the store behind the main studio created a distinctive layout that provides generous storage while reducing the visual impact of the building.

The result is a practical design that feels balanced and well proportioned within the garden. Thoughtfully chosen interior finishes complete the space, creating a bright, functional gym alongside a fully insulated store that will serve Peter and Laura for many years to come.

For some time we had been trying to find the best way to replace our dilapidated Victorian out-building whilst wanting to incorporate an area for gym and storage shed. Having looked at various options we visited Henley Garden Buildings on site and were struck by Kevin’s immediate understanding of our needs and the ability to easily adapt their design both in terms of size and layout.

Once agreed, all progressed on time and as promised, with regular calls to update us. We have been really impressed with the quality of both the materials used and all people involved in the construction. A visitor commented they had never seen such a neat work site!

We now have a lovely gym which can always double up as a home office.
