A Bespoke Annexe Designed for Family Living
Julie first visited us with her daughter and son-in-law, exploring the idea of creating a garden annexe within her daughter’s garden. During their visit to our show models, we were able to walk them through a range of design options and share examples of previous projects. They were instantly inspired, not only by the quality of our finishes, but by the flexibility to adapt every detail to suit their needs.
Following their visit, we arranged a site survey to assess the available space and discuss how best to position the annexe. The chosen location was naturally compact, bordered by fencing on both sides, so our aim was to make the design feel open and connected while preserving as much of the main garden as possible.
We presented three tailored design options, each with its own layout and quotation. While all appealed for different reasons, one stood out as the perfect fit, offering the ideal balance of space, privacy, and comfort, while blending beautifully with its surroundings.
To make the process completely seamless, we managed the planning application under the Mobile Home Act in collaboration with our specialist consultants. This ensured every stage was handled with care and attention, allowing Julie and her family to relax and look forward to their new home taking shape.
Before planning was granted, we invited Julie and her family back in for a final consultation to go through the finer details of the design and confirm the finishing touches. The chosen annexe measured 32m² and featured a spacious living/kitchen area, a separate bedroom with wardrobe, and a well-appointed bathroom.
To enhance the living experience, we added a generous front deck and a large canopy, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor space. The build itself was smooth and efficient, delivered on programme without any complications.
The finished annexe is truly stunning. The exterior was completed in Argent panel cladding, complemented by spiced oak composite decking and a matching spiced oak slatted canopy. The combination of colours and materials gives the annexe a contemporary yet welcoming look, blending beautifully into the garden while standing out as a stylish feature in its own right.
Julie and her family are delighted with the result. The annexe provides Julie with her own comfortable, modern home, while keeping her close to her loved ones, the perfect balance of independence and connection.
