Adam & Izabela had a space in the garden which was already occupied by a summer house however they wanted this to be changed for a new fully insulated Garden Office that they could use through out the year. They liked the design of our Rowington garden room on our show site and arranged a home visit to take some measurements to see what they could achieve.
The existing summer house was situated in the corner of the garden and was also the perfect place for the new all year round garden studio to be situated. With its corner position and wide aspect to the beautifully landscaped garden, it was clear that we needed to open two walls to capture the view from both angles of front and side.
We had our vision and set to task on providing a design that would bring this to life for Adam & Izabela.
It only took one design proposal for Adam & Izabela to trust us with our vision and the finished building was spectacular. We designed the Garden Office with two sets of 3 metre bifold doors opening up the corner of the room onto the garden. With a Wrap around deck and mirrored canopy the external visual is classy and unique to the customer. We cleverly hid a toilet and basin area to the front right side of the building and even included a space for a unit with coffee making facilities and microwave.
The external cladding was in Argent panel composite cladding with Spiced Oak slatted cladding board on the return walls and soffit, finished off with Spiced Oak decking. Internally the flooring was in Dominaco Natural Oak with Neptune Driftwood paint on to the walls.
It is always a pleasure to be given the trust and freedom to create unique designs for our customers and bring them to life. We love the result of this unique Rowington garden room as a Garden Office.
There are two points worth mentioning:
We like the outside materials and the fact that they were consistently used even at the back.
The sturdy steel frame and its insulation, as well as the good aluminium doors, were stand out points for us. The finishes inside, from the wooden floor and paint selection to the sink and toilet, are amazing.
The materials are important, but I think what is even more important is project management and attention to detail. There are a lot of things that can go wrong in a project like this, and a lot of contractors that need coordinating.
Most other companies, when they heard we wanted a small toilet, were open to building the space but did not want to have anything to do with plumbing, drains, cutting through the construction for the pipework, installing the toilet, etc.
We have enough of complex project management at work, so it was a great relief to see that things just happened and happened on time.
It’s not just the major things but the small ones as well, like minor defects in the paint that were touched up before handover or cladding misalignment (and all of that without us chasing the contractors).
The skip just disappeared, so did the portable toilet used by the crew, and so did any small scraps of material from the garden. Also, the buying experience was very good. It is a fair sum of money so it is very helpful that the showroom has all the materials, colours, door handles, etc.
The visualisations were also great, with even the key features in the garden captured (like key shrubs and a children’s climbing frame). One might say it’s not critical but adds tremendous value as it puts the structure in perspective.
