Rowington Garden Room
Stratford Upon Avon
Robin and Sharon first visited us while in the process of purchasing their new home. Keen to incorporate a bespoke garden room into their plans, they wanted to explore design possibilities and costings ahead of their move—a service we are always happy to provide.
From our initial meeting, it was clear that Robin, a retired engineer, had a keen eye for detail and was particularly interested in understanding the technical aspects of our garden buildings. Sharon, on the other hand, was drawn to the aesthetics—focusing on the overall feel, visual appeal, and finishing touches.
We love working with clients who are just as invested in the design journey as we are. With Robin’s precision and Sharon’s creative vision, we knew this would be a truly rewarding project, resulting in a garden room perfectly tailored to both their practical needs and personal style.
The process of investing in a new Rowington Garden room is not a simple one, it takes time, effort and most of all care. It is not just how a Garden room looks from outside but also the inside. It takes careful planning, attention to detail, and a tailored approach to ensure it complements both the home and garden, whether large or small.
Working closely with Robin and Sharon, Jackie and I designed a beautiful bespoke Rowington-style garden room with amazing finishes inside and out. Robin and I focused on the build specifications, ensuring every structural detail was perfect, while Jackie and Sharon looked at the interior aesthetic, Sharon knew exactly how she wanted it and the results are just great.
The design was based on our ever-popular Rowington model, enhanced with a canopy, deck, and side wall to create a beautifully framed corner studio that extends out into the garden. To add depth and enhance the approach to the room, we introduced a 75cm step, a structured canopy, and a feature side wall.
The large glazed opening, with 3.6m French doors and fixed glazed side panels, maximised natural light and created a beautiful connection to the garden. Two top-hinged windows were positioned to frame views of Sharon’s flower beds, bringing a sense of the outdoors into the space. Externally, the combination of Argent composite panel cladding, a spiced oak deck, and matching slatted cladding on the canopy and side wall provided a contemporary yet warm finish, blending effortlessly with the natural setting.
Inside the Rowington Garden Room, the attention to detail continued, with a feature wall in Neptune’s Moss paint adding a rich, inviting depth to the room, softened by Silverbirch on the remaining walls. The final touch was the Quick-Step Largo wooden flooring in Cambridge Dark Oak, which brought warmth and elegance to the space, tying everything together beautifully.
Robin and Sharon are great people and fun to work with and we enjoyed every minute. Thank you both for your kindness and hospitality towards us and our fitting.
We had already visited several garden studio suppliers before we found Henley Garden Buildings; when we saw the studios we knew that our search for a garden room was over.
The quality, design and materials were clearly a cut above anything we’d previously seen and we were confident that we would be delighted with the end product. The support and guidance from Kevin and Jackie was phenomenal; their attention to detail was unbelievable.
We were in the process of moving to a new house so Kevin provided several rendered drawings which really helped us to visualise how the end product would sit in the garden. We were talked through the whole build process, and provided with detailed plans of the design together with a schedule of how the build would progress.
They helped us design the interior and talked us through the many options of colours, flooring and lighting – both inside and out. Jackie even provided a mood board to include tones of the furniture we were intending to put inside.
We liked having an up-front overall price and a staggered payment schedule which included skip hire, foundations, build, electrical work, plastering, painting and lighting.
The work itself also ran like clockwork with Kevin and Jackie visiting several times. The crew were great – they arrived on time; worked tirelessly and left the site in an immaculate condition each day – big thanks to Luke, Barry and Aaron! We have genuinely never had such excellent service.
Family, friends and neighbours have all commented on the beautiful quality of the garden studio and, suffice to say, we are very pleased that we chose Kevin, Jackie and the team at Henley Garden Buildings. Thank you – we love it!
