When Andrew first reached out to us earlier this year, he had a clear vision: a garden building that could serve both as a gym and a practical storage space. After discussing his ideas in depth at our show site with his partner, Nedjma, the couple left with a solid understanding of what Henley Garden Buildings could deliver. Several months later, when Andrew was ready to move forward, we arranged a home visit to assess their outdoor space and begin designing what would become a truly unique Garden Room Office.
Blending Design with Nature
Their garden—long, lush, and lined with mature hedges and trees—presented both opportunity and inspiration. After assessing the landscape, we determined that placing the garden room to the side and partway down the garden offered the best of both worlds: a sense of seclusion and a breathtaking 180-degree view that maximized the garden’s natural beauty.
This thoughtful positioning allowed the Garden Room Office to blend seamlessly into its surroundings, enhancing rather than overpowering the existing outdoor space.
Budget-Friendly, High-Impact Design
Like many of our clients, Andrew and Nedjma were working within a defined budget. Our goal was to create a versatile, efficient space without compromising on quality, comfort, or aesthetic appeal.
By refining the layout and selecting cost-effective materials, we delivered a design that included everything they needed—ample room for a gym, dedicated storage, and a flexible workspace—all within their budget.
A Garden Room Office That Embraces the Outdoors
The completed Garden Room Office offered a spacious internal layout of 6m x 3.2m, with an external footprint of 6.3m x 3.5m. A sleek 60cm overhanging canopy and matching step created a welcoming entrance, while a large 3.6m glazed opening with French doors and fixed side panels allowed for abundant natural light and framed the garden beautifully.
To enhance visual connectivity, we added a full-height window facing the house and a top-hinged window on the opposite gable. This clever design choice created a panoramic 180-degree view and a seamless sightline straight through the garden room—an ideal feature for a calm, inspiring garden office setup.

Smart Materials, Warm Finishes
We chose horizontal Midnight composite cladding for a refined and modern exterior. The layout maximized the use of our 3.6m boards to reduce waste and streamline construction. Warmth and contrast were introduced with a Spiced Oak deck and a matching slatted canopy, giving the garden room a sophisticated, earthy character.
Inside, we turned to our trusted Neptune paint palette to craft a serene, balanced environment. Shale on both gable ends emphasized the room’s length, while Silverbirch brightened the entrance. The rear wall, painted in Snow and extended to the ceiling, gave a clean, open feel. Underfoot, Quick-Step Largo Wooden Flooring in Long Island Natural Oak completed the room with a warm, rustic touch.
A Garden Retreat for Work and Wellness
The final result was more than just a stylish building—it was a flexible, purpose-built Garden Room Office that doubles as a wellness space. Whether working from home, staying fit, or simply enjoying the view, Andrew and Nedjma now have a space that fits seamlessly into their lives.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with such thoughtful and trusting clients. Thank you, Andrew and Nedjma, for allowing us to be part of your garden transformation.
